Site Preparation Requirements

Having a well-prepared site is crucial to a smooth delivery process and the longevity of your building. Poor site preparation could lead to racking or twisting of your floor and may cause doors and windows to operate inefficiently.

To avoid these issues, here’s what we recommend:

Shed Requirements

4-6” of 2B or 2RC crush and run gravel or a concrete base.
Gravel pad needs to be 2 feet wider and longer than the building. If you’re using concrete, make the pad the same size as the building.
Use stakes or paint to mark the 4 corners where you want the building to stand.
Use a transit level to perfect the pad. The longevity of your building depends on the foundation.
For reference: Every 100 square feet of shed will need approximately 3 tons of gravel.

Garage and Cabin Requirements

4-6” of 2RC crush and run gravel or a concrete base.
Pad must be leveled with a transit and all fill must be tamped.
Gravel pad must be 4 feet wider and longer than the building. If you’re using concrete, make the pad the same size as the building.

We are incredibly pleased with our 2-bedroom Pioneer Cabin from Tuscarora Structures. We looked at cabins from various manufacturers, making our discussion choosing TSI. Last November, Brice welcomed us to the sales lot and gave us a detailed tour of the display models. In no time at all we had made our selection, completed a sale agreement, and placed down payment. This was just the beginning of putting all the pieces together to make our plan reality. Brice made recommendations on site preparation contractors. We contacted Jeff Peachey of Artisanal Concrete LLC in early spring, he met with us and discussed options, we chose to go with a crawl space foundation this took a while to happen with the challenging weather this spring and summer. Foundation and cabin delivery came together over the past few weeks. Brice, Dave, Matt, Jeremy, Ben, Dan, and his son, along with the delivery driver, demonstrated professionalism, helpfulness, patience, practical knowledge, and experience. They are all willing to collaborate to ensure smooth and efficient experience. Now to move on with getting electrical service, water, septic, weather skirting, gutters, and finishing touches to the site within the next couple of months. It meant a great deal to us being able to speak and ask questions with the staff of TSI and KSM, including two of the top guys. Dave came out on the delivery to ensure things went smoothly with the delivery and placement to make certain that we were completely satisfied with our experience. It is very impressive how the cabin was placed onto the foundation from the truck trailer combination used. We highly recommend their business. Thank you, Ela and Richard.
